All work no play makes Jake a very dull boy.

Have I mentioned that trying to renovate a house with a five month old is nearly impossible? Before we start a project, we place Jake in his bouncy seat or swing or put him down for a nap. My boy can play.

Jake LOVES to play. He is intensely curious about new images, sounds, and textures.
 
Here he looked at us and said, “Check it out, Mom and Dad. I’m flying a plane. We have liftoff.”

 
“Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.”

 
“I love these rings sooo much. I think I’m going to cry.”

 
“Oh, a book. I wuv books.”

 
“Me giant. You tower. I will tear you [...]

I wonder what he’s thinking . . .

“Hi. I’m a boy. What are you? A zebra? I like your stripes, Mr. Zebra. I have stripes, too.”

 

Sometimes I have an overwhelming urge . . .

to eat my child. To completely ingest him. To bite his cheeks and ears off.

And those fat rolls on the backs of his legs . . . oh, man. They are perfectly edible.

Oh my golly. I can hardly stand it.

I’m back. But only because my child has slept a total of 7 1/2 hours today and it’s only 2:24. Must be a growth spurt. I’ll have to slip some red pop in his bottle this afternoon so he’ll stay awake long enough to sleep through the night. Only kidding.
