Jake loves getting a bath. It totally relaxes him. He lies there the entire time as if he’s at a spa. Then he screams loud enough for the neighbors to hear when I take him out of the water to put on his clothes.
This may disturb some of you, but I think he likes to be [...]

This is my last week at home with Jake before returning to work, and I’m savoring every moment of his sweetness.
I wonder what kind of boy he’ll be. He seems serious and contemplative to me.
And a little bit of a dreamer and a romantic.
And perhaps an observer of people. He loves to check things out [...]

Easter this year was so very special. We went to the early service (and by early I mean 9:00. Nashville is a town of muscians. People don’t do early here.) at our church, The Village Chapel (www.thevillagechapel.com) and then just spent the day together. Having Jake in our lives gives us a whole new meaning of joy. Every [...]

On Saturday, our family had a get-together at Hidden Acres — Aunt Cindy and Uncle Paul’s house. It was the first family event since Jake and Jackson (Jill and Scott’s new little guy) joined the family.
Jake was very excited. He wore his Single and Lovin’ It shirt to celebrate.
My mom, Aunt Cindy, and Aunt Kathy [...]

On Wednesday, Jake had a pretty rough day. I don’t think he was feeling well because he was fussy the entire day. I couldn’t help myself. I had to capture him in the moment.
This is how it went . . .
He gave me that “look at me. I’m pitiful.” look which begs “please pick me up [...]

I finally got around to taking pictures of Jakob’s nursery. I just love it!!
It seems like ages ago that I was looking online for the perfect fabric for his bedding and curtains. I finally settled on a Michael Miller fabric called “Party Play.” It is a yellow fabric that has retro kids dressed up in [...]

Last Wednesday we drove to Ohio for an extended weekend visit with Matt’s family. His sister, Maribeth, and her family were in town from San Antonio, so the whole crew was together. Maribeth and Melissa planned a baby shower for Saturday and just about all of Matt’s family was there. It was such a nice shower [...]

On Monday of last week I took Jake to my work to say “hello” to everyone. We got to the office a little after noon and everyone was in a conference room. They passed Jake around and he was pretty good. I had forgotten his pacifier at home so I was a little worried about [...]

A week ago Saturday we had the biggest snow Nashville has seen in 5 years — a whopping 3 inches. Call in the snow trucks! Granted, it melted from the streets as soon as the sun came out, but it was fun for the few hours that it lasted.
We put Jakob in the monkey bunting [...]

On March 6th, Jake had his two month well visit with Dr. Moss. I was sick with the stomach flu and had to force myself to get out of bed. Thankfully, Matt stayed home from work and watched Jake while I slept most of the day.
According to Dr. Moss, Jake is just perfect. He weighs [...]
